Teacher Training Overseas

Our Transnational Education team plans and delivers in-country teacher training courses which upgrade the level of teaching within the private and public education sector.

We have a large network of dedicated and highly experienced staff who tailor the design and the running of our courses to the specific context and the needs of the participants.

Case Studies

We have various case studies that showcase our work with past stakeholders across the globe, such as Ministries of Education, universities and public/private schools.

Cambridge English Online CELTA in Hong Kong

BSC ran the Cambridge Online Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) course in partnership with Monkey Tree English Learning Center from 09 Oct 2017 – 27 Jan 2018.

The 12 teachers on the course benefitted from the blended learning delivery model which combines collaborative online study with face-to-face teaching practice as they were either teaching full-time or working in full-time management roles. The course was designed and run online from the UK and two BSC accredited tutors spent a total of 4 weeks in Hong Kong for the face-to-face components of the course; assisting with lesson planning, observing teaching practice, evaluation and feedback.

Cambridge English Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) in Kazakhstan

In autumn 2016, 5 Delta+ qualified teacher trainers from the BSC Group delivered a 4-week TKT course on Modules 2 and 3 in Oskemen, Kazakhstan. The project was delivered in conjunction with the local Education Authority in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The course took place in two secondary schools and over 100+ teachers benefited from the training.

The course objectives focussed on planning for language teaching and classroom management with a variety of sessions on lesson planning, use of resources for language teaching and managing the teaching and learning process. Participants commented on our professional approach and the high-level of training provided.

Bespoke Course on New Methodologies & Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)

This 4-day course at the Tashkent State University of Economics in Uzbekistan was delivered to around 40 teachers who teach English to undergraduates and postgraduate students. The course focussed on practical and current teaching techniques to maximise student engagement and progress in the learning of a second or third language.

The course also looked at the ‘soft CLIL’ approach with a particular emphasis on building students’ academic and subject-specific lexicon.

Cambridge English Face-to-Face CELTA in Bishkek

We are delighted to have delivered the first ever CELTA course in Kyrgyzstan at our franchise school. There were 12 trainees enrolled on the course. Most were teachers with varying levels of experience, whilst a couple were just starting a career in English language teaching.

The employers of these teachers are proud that their staff now hold a formal and internationally recognised qualification, which is regulated by Ofqual at level 5 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework in the UK. Employers have confidence that their certified teachers can demonstrate:

  • essential knowledge of the principles of effective English teaching
  • a range of practical skills for teaching English to adult learners
  • their ability to apply their learning in a real teaching context

BSC Manchester looks forward to running the course again in July 2019.
