CELTA Training Days

We offer a selection of one-day courses aimed at helping you prepare for your CELTA course before you start and providing you with more support for teaching in specific contexts after you complete the course.

CELTA Taster Day

The Taster Day is a six-hour introductory course delivered by experienced CELTA tutors and provides an overview of the CELTA course. Participants are shown how the course enables candidates to:

  • acquire essential subject knowledge and familiarity with the principles of effective teaching
  • acquire a range of practical skills for teaching English to adult learners
  • demonstrate their ability to apply what they have acquired in a real teaching context

The Taster Day enables potential CELTA candidates to have a clearer idea of the EFL teaching and learning context before committing themselves to a longer, more expensive accredited course.

The day is full of practical tasks and offers the opportunity to experience the teaching context as well as to meet some of the staff. The timetable for the day includes the following sessions: The Roles of a Teacher, Observation of an EFL Class, Foreign Language Lesson, Reflection on Being a Beginner, Qualities of a Good Teacher, The Learner and Learning Styles, Grammar Terminology.

Post-CELTA Training Days

Our post-CELTA training days are designed to give you more detailed information and support for teaching in specific contexts.

Day 1: Teaching Young Learners & Language Awareness

Teaching young learners can seem rather daunting as a newly qualified teacher, so this training session aims to give you more confidence when teaching under 16s. As you develop as a teacher and teach more proficient students, having a greater awareness of the language will give you more confidence in the classroom.

Day 2: Teaching Exam Classes & Teaching Multi-level Classes

Teaching exam classes is a rewarding aspect of being an EFL teacher. As well as providing English language tuition, you will be helping students develop study skills and ultimately achieve their goals. It is often the case that EFL classes have a mixture of levels. This session will provide you with practical advice and guidance on adapting materials for multilevel classes.
