Healthcare professionals applying for Tier 2 (General) visas no longer need to meet a separate English language requirement for their visa application if they have used their OET results for registering with the relevant healthcare regulator.
The Home Office recently announced that doctors, dentists, nurses and midwives who have already passed an English language test accepted by the relevant professional body, will not have to take another English language test before entry to the UK on a Tier 2 visa. It is hoped that the move will allow hospitals and doctors surgeries across the country to hire overseas staff more easily.
The change will come into force for all Tier 2 (General) visa applications from the 1st October 2019. BSC Manchester became an authorised OET Premium Preparation Provider back in June 2019 after becoming a test venue almost two years prior. The school has witnessed first-hand how demand for this English language test for healthcare professionals continues to grow. For British Study Centres, the change to Tier 2 (General) visas comes as welcome news as international healthcare professionals face fewer barriers finding work in the UK.
BSC Manchester is a an OET Premium Preparation Provider and test centre. British Study Centres will also be rolling out OET preparation course across our schools in 2020. Find out more about our English language courses for healthcare professionals here:
