BSC Trains over 1,000 Kazakh Teachers in Partnership with Astana International University
• 1,012 Kazakh secondary school teachers
• 49 training groups
• 16 trainers
• 7 cities
• 3 project managers
From 9 September – 1 November 2019 British Study Centres, in partnership with Astana International University, has delivered multiple two-week teacher training courses to subject teachers (physics, chemistry, biology and ICT) across various cities in Kazakhstan.
This BSC Transnational Education project is part of the Ministry of Education policy to improve teachers' ability to use English as a medium of instruction across the country.
The overall objectives of the programme are to give practical instruction in CLIL methodology and to build the course participants' confidence in promoting and managing a communicative and student-centred classroom in English. By including workshops and incorporating opportunities for micro teaching, teachers experiment with a range of activities and give feedback on each other's materials and techniques. Participants experience 'learning by doing', 'learning by discovering', 'learning by applying' and 'learning from reflection'.
