BSC has continued to keep students connected with their fellow students across the UK and Ireland during the ongoing lockdown with a variety of fun and informative online social activities on platforms such as Instagram and Zoom. From cooking classes to Book Club, there has been something to keep everyone entertained.
Ongoing events include how to draw the perfect portrait with a weekly drawing masterclass, book club, grammar quiz and exercise classes. At BSC Dublin, the team have organised live, weekly cooking classes direct from Rome every Friday! The classes are hosted by an Italian chef who visited BSC Dublin back in October 2019. Recipes so far have included delicious traditional Italian dishes, such as spaghetti bolognese, pizza and risotto!
In this testing period, the BSC family have come together to produce some fantastic initiatives to keep people connected while remaining safe. In the first week of the lockdown BSC Oxford started running daily 'Wake-up Well being' exercise classes that were hosted live on Instagram to keep students healthy and motivated, while BSC York organised a virtual Pub Quiz in the evening.
As the second week of lockdown continued, BSC Brighton held a 'Conversation Club' and there were English language challenges organised by BSC Manchester. Added to this were movie nights, lots of fun on TikTok with BSC Edinburgh and BSC London hosting a 'Saturday Brunch' event. Students could also experience some of the UK and Ireland's most exciting tourist attractions with a Virtual Museum tours introduced by the BSC team.
The collaborative effort shown by our BSC teams and our students has been incredible and a true testament to the long-lasting impact of learning with BSC and the bonds of friendship that remain, no matter the distance or the difficult circumstances. There are a range of lunchtime workshops to help students keep on improving their English and it's also a great way to keep in touch with their fellow classmates.
