Our minimum course length is 2 weeks, and you can book courses for up to 1 year if you wish!
Students that are travelling and studying on a visa must check how long their visa allows them to stay in the UK before booking. If you have questions about visas, you can read our student visa information page or contact us.
Most of our courses for adults start on a Monday, every week throughout the year.
You must be at least 16 years old to join our adult courses.
Children and teenagers can learn English on one of our spring and summer camps for Young Learners.
Yes, British Study Centres York, Manchester and London are accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English as a foreign language. We are also an active member of English UK, the national association of accredited English language centres. Find out more about our accreditations.
You can book and pay for English courses online, or you can contact British Study Centres for a list of authorised representatives in your country. Our local representatives can provide course information and advice in your own language, help you with visa requirements and, in some cases, book flights for you.
Yes, we ask for a £250 deposit to secure your course booking. If you require accommodation, we may ask for an additional, separate deposit for this.
Students from the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland do not need a visa to study in the UK. The situation for students from other countries varies. Our student visa information page provides more details, but please check with a British Consulate or Embassy in your country of residence for accurate guidance.
On average, we have 11 students in each class. Our maximum class size is 14 students and classes may be much smaller during quiet seasons.
Our priority is providing you with high-quality lessons where you can practise your English by interacting with other students, but still receive help from our teachers that focus on your own specific needs.
We welcome students from all over the world! We have students from Europe, South America, Asia and Africa. Depending on the time of year, we have up to 35 different nationalities in our schools at any one time.
Our teachers are qualified, friendly and experienced, and we select our staff very carefully. Most of our teachers have a degree and all of them have an English language teaching qualification. We also look for people with the right personalities to meet people from all over the world and make their lessons inspiring and enjoyable.
All of your course materials are included in the course fees. This includes a placement test before your course begins, access to the study centre and school facilities, your completion certificate and progress reports if you’re studying for 8 weeks or more. We also give you free access to myBSC, our eLearning platform and portal to the BSC world. This system has been carefully designed to support all areas of your experience with British Study Centres.
Yes, at the end of your course you will receive a certificate from the school. The information on the certificate will include the length of your course and the level of English you have achieved. The certificate is given to all students provided their attendance is at least 90%.
Standard and Wi-Fi internet access is free of charge at all of our schools. Our student houses and residences are all fitted with Wi-Fi internet access which is free, too. Many homestays also offer free internet access.
