10 of the Best Bars and Pubs in Hove

Calmer and classier than neighbouring Brighton, Hove is a seaside town that’s bursting with fun places to drink, eat and soak up the sun. Whether you fancy a G & T in a sunny beer garden, or a pint in a live music venue, there’s a pub in Hove to fit every taste. We explore some of our favourites, all within walking distance of British Study Centres Brighton.

Pubs in Hove

1) The Wick Inn

With great music and a lively atmosphere, the Wick Inn is a local favourite. Sitting on the corner of Palmeira square, the pub is easily accessible from both Brighton and Hove and also serves up delicious (and cheap) Thai food.

 

2) The Station Pub

The nearest pub to Hove station, the Station Pub is known for its yummy pizzas and is just around the corner from British Study Centres Brighton. Just be aware that if you want to take part in its legendary pub quiz, you’d better book a table in advance!

 

3) The Old Albion

The Old Albion Pub Hove

The Old Albion has been a local favourite for decades. Now, after a trendy renovation, this Hove pub is looking newer and fresher than ever. The owners are taking inspiration from the Gin Palaces of Victorian England and serving an excellent range of gins, including their very own brand!

 

4) The Brunswick

When summer comes, there’s no better place to enjoy a drink after a day at the beach than the Brunswick.  With an amazing beer garden and live music almost every weekend, the Brunswick is the perfect place to relax after a day of sunbathing on the pebbles.

 

5) The Gin Tub

Another gin specialist to add to our list, the Gin Tub is a bar that’s full of personality. Call the bar on an old fashioned telephone to order your drinks and or explore the underground selfie bar to take photos for the ‘gram. What could be more fun?

 

6) The Palmeira

The Palmeira Pub Hove

The Palmeira is a no nonsense-pub offering cheap and cheerful lunch deals. They’re also renowned for their great pub quiz and themed samba nights! Just around the corner from British Study Centres Brighton, it’s a great option for BSC Brighton students wanting a quick meal between classes.

 

7) Bison Beer

Bison Beer

Bison Beer is a quirky brew shop with three locations around Brighton and Hove. The small sized bar offers an incredible range of local craft beers and also holds pop-up kitchens run by local chefs.

 

8) The Good Companions

Okay, so not technically in Hove, but the Good Companions is just a short walk from British Study Centres and is a great local pub with a bustling beer garden. Every Tuesday, the place fills up for its raucous quiz, so just be aware that you’ll need to book a table!

 

9) Hove Place

Hove Place

Tucked away not far from the seafront. Hove Place is a great choice for both winter and summer, with both a cosy interior and a large outdoor garden. If you want to try some traditional British food, Hove Place also has an incredible Sunday roast and was even voted one of the best in Brighton.

 

10) The Exchange

The Exchange Pub Hove

Another great option if you’re looking for a pub near Hove station, the Exchange is a proper local pub with a colourful interior, an open fireplace and home cooked food. If you’re hoping to catch some live music, they also put on shows from local bands.
