Student Blog: Our weekend likes and dislikes

This week our elementary students at English Language Centre York interviewed each other to practise talking about their likes and dislikes:

Faris by Ahmed

Faris lives in Hull. At the weekend he likes relaxing. He loves eating fast food. He really likes staying in bed until midday. He quite likes having breakfast in bed. He doesn’t like sunbathing. He hates cleaning his house. He quite likes listening to music. He loves going for long walks. He loves swimming. He quite likes doing homework. He quite likes driving his car. He doesn’t like being with his family. He hates going on long bus journeys. He loves meeting friends. He doesn’t like going to the Gym. He doesn’t likes taking photos. He loves watching TV. He likes playing football. His favourite hobby is swimming. His favourite food is pizza.

Q: When did you last feel really happy?
A: On my 18th birthday
Q: Why?
A: Because all my friends came to a party
Q: Where were you?
A: In London.
Q: Who were you with?
A: My friends.
Q: What did you do?
A: We ate cakes.

Ibrahim by Faris

Ibrahim comes from Saudi Arabia. At the weekend he loves eating fast food and he likes staying in bed until midday and having breakfast in bed. He also really likes listening to music. He also likes swimming, being with his family and really likes meeting friends. He quite likes going to the gym. He also likes taking photos and playing football. He loves Saudi Arabia, but he does not like sunbathing or cleaning the house or going for long walks or doing homework or going with his family or going on long bus journeys.

Q: When did you last feel really happy?
A: When I came to London.
Q: Why?
A: Because London is very nice
Q: Where were you?
A: I was in London!
Q: Who were you with?
A: My friends
Q: What did you do?
Q: We went to the shops, restaurants and we watched Big Ben

Rfeia by Gil

Rfeia came to England to study with her husband. She likes going shopping at the weekend. She loves cleaning her house and going to the gym. She really likes going for long walks. The best day for her is Eid al-fitr, when they have a party in Saudi Arabia at the end of Ramadan. She likes being with family and eating sweets, food and drinking coffee.

She doesn’t like hot climates. Her favourite climates are cold. She likes spending time in York and on the beaches in England, but she doesn’t like going on long bus journeys. She likes sunbathing. She doesn’t like fast food because she doesn’t like bread. She also doesn’t like staying in bed until midday, because she goes to classes.

Gil by Rfeia

Gil came to England from Brazil with her family to study English. She loves sunbathing and she likes going shopping at the weekend. She doesn’t like cleaning her house. She loves listening to music. The happiest day for her was when her mother arrived from Brazil to stay with her grandson in York. She likes the park, being with her mother, and joking with her son. She goes for long walks. She likes doing homework and quite likes staying in bed until midday. She like taking photos. She like playing tennis.

She doesn’t like hot climates, but prefers cold climates. She likes spending time in York and being on the beach in Brazil, but she doesn’t like going on long bus journeys. She doesn’t like fast food because she doesn’t like greasy food. She also doesn’t like staying in bed until midday, because she likes waking up early.

Ahmed by Ibrahim

Ahmed comes from Saudi Arabia. At the weekend he likes meeting with his friends. He quite likes eating fast food. He really likes staying in bed until midday. He doesn’t like having breakfast in bed, and he doesn’t like sunbathing. He quite likes cleaning his house, and he quite likes listening to music. He really likes going for long walks, and he really likes swimming. He hates doing homework, but he loves driving in his car. He really likes being with family and he quite likes going on long bus journeys. He loves meeting with friends. He quite likes going to the gym, but he doesn’t like taking photos, and he doesn’t  like going shopping. He really likes playing table tennis.

His happiest day was his first day in the school.  He likes meeting with his friends and eating outside, playing football  and listening to Saudi and other Arabic music, and dancing.

Lina by Lily

Lina comes from China. At the weekend she likes swimming and going to for long walks. She loves sunbathing. She doesn’t like doing homework, because she feels bored. She doesn’t like having breakfast in bed, because the bed gets dirty.
Her happiest day was her daughter was born. She was very excited. She was in the hospital, with her family. She looked after her baby, and she felt very satisfied!

Lily by Lina

Lily comes from China. At the weekend she likes staying in bed until midday and having breakfast in bed. She doesn’t like cleaning the house, because she is busy. She loves all music, because she is a singer. She likes meeting friends a lot and having coffee. She doesn’t like cheese, because if she eats it, it makes her sick. What else? Wow! She really like shopping.        

Her happiest days were when she went to nursery, because she didn’t worry about anything. She stayed in nursery with friends so she was happy. She only played, because she was only a child.

Zayd by Mohammed

Today I want talk about my friend Zayd. He is from Qatar and his surname is Alnaimi. He is very nice person. I met him when I was five years old. We are 18 years old now. He has a lot of things he likes and doesn’t like. First, he likes eating fast food and staying in bed until midday. I tell him this is not good for his health, but he doesn’t listen to me. Secondly, he likes listening to music, going swimming and going for a long walk. Now let’s go to the things he doesn’t like. Firstly, he doesn’t like doing homework and going on long bus journeys. Secondly, he doesn’t like going to the gym.

His best day was in Ramadan in his country, because he was with his family and they celebrated together.

Mohammed by Zayd

Mohammed comes from Qatar, but he lives in York with host family. At the weekend, he doesn’t like eating fast food but he likes playing football and he likes going to the gym. He doesn’t like driving cars in England. He quite likes watching TV. He doesn’t like going shopping. He likes sweets, but he doesn’t like getting up in the morning. His happiest days were in his country with his family
