One-Week TEFL Gap Year Course
An exciting opportunity to learn the basics of teaching English as a foreign language, this course aims to give you the confidence you need to embark on your first teaching experience.
This course is tailor-made for post-sixth-form and post-university students who intend to travel and teach abroad in both voluntary and paid positions. It is an ideal starting point for those considering language teaching as a long-term career prospect. The course is designed and delivered by fully qualified and experienced EFL teachers and trainers. Participants will learn:
- How to prepare, deliver and develop a lesson
- How to teach the four basic skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening)
- How to analyse and present grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary
- How to assess and use a range of resources for teaching
Course Content
The course is comprised of input sessions, project work, observations and teaching practice. The sessions are experiential, meaning that you will experience first hand the strategies EFL teachers employ in English teaching.
During the course you will have the opportunity to observe professional teachers in the classroom as well as plan and deliver your own lessons to real students of different levels and nationalities. You will leave the course grounded in established teaching techniques with a whole range of teaching tips, tools and tricks at your disposal. You will receive a British Study Centres Certificate of Completion as well as a copy of our Teaching Survival Kit with indispensable advice for teachers going abroad.
