Lisa Pick, CertTESOL Course Director

I have worked as a teacher trainer for around six years, mainly on Trinity accredited courses. I have also run teacher development workshops in both Barcelona and Brighton and have given extra-curricular lectures at the British Council on music and media. I have also tutored primary school teachers from abroad on Primary Teacher Refresher courses, however, having two children of my own, I prefer teaching grown-ups! I'm also a Cambridge examiner and the Exams Officer at BSC Brighton.

I'm a teacher with BSC with a special interest in EFL and technology, so much so that I have set up my own company training teachers at other schools how to integrate the use of the internet, blogs, wikis, podcasts, Skype, Powerpoint etc. into teaching. I also give training on how to use an interactive whiteboard. As far as possible we try to incorporate simple technology into the Trinity CertTESOL course, as well as dedicating a full input session to an introduction to using technology in EFL. As well as this special interest, I am at the cutting edge of TESOL training as have done both the Trinity CertTESOL and a Diploma in TESOL in recent years.

I'm the Assistant Academic Director at British Study Centres. I started doing teacher training in Portugal for the British Council in Lisbon in 1997 where I was training Portuguese teachers to teach English. Since then I have become a trainer for Cambridge CELTYL courses (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Young Learners) and managed and tutored on 7 courses in Hong Kong for the British Council. Last year I also trained as a Cambridge CELTA tutor. I have been the principal trainer on Primary Teacher Refresher courses for BSC and managed the Advanced Language and Methodology course. I have also regularly given development workshops on a variety of topics to teachers in and around Sussex.
