British Study Centres News 2008
Pink Day
Friday, October 31 was breast cancer 'Pink Day' at British Study Centres London. Kath and Eva in Student Services made 150 cupcakes (with pink icing!) and a number of staff wore pink for the day (see photo). The Student Services team were able to raise £412 for breast cancer charity with the generous support of our students and staff.
Thank you to everyone who contributed! Special thanks to Lucy for her efforts!
Brighton Launch Party
Over 70 agents, teachers, school staff, university reps, ex-students and colleagues gathered at Fairfax House on Friday night (24 October 2008) to celebrate the opening of our beautiful new Brighton school. A wonderful selection of canapés was prepared by our French chef, Margaux - all of which was enjoyed with a glass (or two!) of wine. Company Chairman, Simon Cleaver, spoke of his pride at witnessing this exciting new chapter in British Study Centres Brighton's history and looked forward to further growth of the school in its brand new home.
New Brighton School!
After 6 happy years at Medina Villas, we moved to wonderful new premises on 6 October 2008. Our brand new school occupies a large, beautifully-refurbished, four-storey Victorian building with a magnificent garden and terrace in a quiet tree-lined street in Hove. Its ideal location will allow you to take advantage of all the attractions of the city centre and the beach, which is about 15 minutes away.
The school has 15 spacious classrooms, all with high windows and natural light. The school benefits from a well-stocked study centre and library, a large computer room with the latest in flat-screen terminals and there is Wi-Fi access throughout the building. We are also fortunate to have our own beautiful glass-topped cafeteria which gives out onto the lovely gardens and terrace. Come and visit us some time soon!
British Council Accreditation
The British Council inspected and accredited British Study Centres, London in May 2008. The accreditation Scheme assesses the standards of management, resources and premises, teaching and welfare and accredits organisations which meet the overall standard in each area inspected (see www.britishcouncil.org/english/courses for details).
This large private language school offers courses in general English for adults.
Points of excellence were noted in aspects of premises and academic management.
The inspection report stated that the organisation met the standards of the scheme.

New Building for Oxford!
We have moved! Our fantastic new building is in the very best part of Oxford, in the historic St.Giles district less than 100 metres from the world famous Ashmolean Museum, directly opposite Oxford University colleges and on Oxford's main shopping street.
Modelled on our London school, Oxenford House is equipped to the highest standards with 17 classrooms all benefitting from natural light and many boasting beautiful views of Oxford's many historic buildings. A large study centre and internet room have also been installed along with Wi-Fi throughout. All these facilities are naturally available for all our Oxford students free of charge.
