Meet our staff
Our staff make us who we are. From the student services officers to the teachers, you will have dealings with them every day. Here they are below, celebrating the school's 4th birthday in February 2008.
James - School Director
Hi, I'm James and I'm the School Director at British Study Centres London. I've worked in the English language industry for nearly five years as a teacher, as an administration manager and now as School Director.
I have taught in numerous schools and colleges in the UK and have taught in English schools in South Africa and Italy.
I have lots of responsibilities in my job but the most important one is to ensure all the students that come to London have the best possible experience.
When I'm not at work, you can usually find me playing and watching sports. I play cricket and football every week and also enjoy a game of rugby when my body can take it! I also like playing the guitar and travelling when I can. I hope to see you soon in London!
Kath - Head of the Student Services Department
I am the Head of the Student Services Department, which deals with booking students onto the courses and into accommodation, whether in a homestay or in a student house. The school is quite busy all year round now and especially in the summer so we are kept occupied. The most interesting part is meeting new people (i.e. students) and being able to help when someone has a question or problem.
Eva - Accommodation & Welfare Officer
Hi, my name is Eva and I'm the Accommodation and Welfare officer. I've been working in British Study Centres, London, since it opened in 2004.
I'm responsible for finding accommodation for our students so if you need to find a place to stay in London, I can help you.
I come from the Czech Republic but I've lived in London since 2001. I like yoga, cooking and reading.
Lucy - Student Services Officer
My name is Lucy. I relocated from Zambia and have been working at British Study Centres for a year now and I can honestly say that I have loved every minute of it as I get to travel without moving simply because I meet different people from all over the world every Monday of the year.
I get the pleasure of making your stay at our school fun and memorable. You can come and talk to me if you need help to book tickets to the theatre, a European city destination for the weekend perhaps and if we get really lucky maybe a football match. I organise daily and weekly excursions in and around London so you can get to know your fellow students and the staff a little better while exploring vibrant London.
I am very passionate about History, Music, Film, Food, Cocktails, Culture and making people smile!!
What am I? I am the Social Organiser and I look forward to having a good time with you here at our school, British Study Centres!!
Oliver - Student Services Officer
Hi, I am Oliver and I work in Student Services. I am originally from Germany and I have to admit I am a bit of a sports and health freak. In my spare time I enjoy doing parkour, martial arts, skating, yoga, scuba diving and I love nature. I also like to go for a swim, run or to the gym.
I started at British Study Centres as an internship student and now I am a full-time member of the team. Before my time in London I spent 15 months on the road, travelling around New Zealand, Australia and Asia. Since then I have had itchy feet and think one of the most exciting things is to meet people!
Come and see me at the reception if you have a problem, need help, information or just to have a chat with me. So you see, I am really looking forward to meeting you guys.
Alex - Student Services Officer
Hi, I'm Alex and I work with Eva in accommodation. I help Eva organise the accommodation and try to solve any problems our students may have. I've been working for British Study Centres since October 2007. I'm currently on a gap year and in October I will be going to Warwick University to read politics. I enjoy working at BSC as everyday is different; the school is constantly busy and there is always something happening such as pub nights, movie nights or trips to the BBC. At the weekends I like to socialise with friends, go clubbing and listen to live music.
What our students say...
"The teachers are very nice and welcoming and we can speak a lot with them in order to improve our English. A social programme is organised, so we can spend time with them. So, I was really satisfied." - Laurence from France
Steve - Academic Director
Hi, I'm Steve, Academic Director here in London. I'm one of the first faces you will see when you arrive at the school as I look after the first day testing.
I have been teaching English for 13 years, and have worked in Indonesia, Ecuador, Libya and London. I am an experienced examiner and in my spare time I like singing, playing the piano, watching rugby and cooking. I look forward to meeting you in London!
Ann - Assistant Academic Director
Hi! I'm Ann, the Assistant Academic Director, and I've been a teacher in Russia, Slovakia and London. I was born in the north of England but I live in London and I really love it here! I like theatre, music and eating out as well as walking around London and finding new places.
Philip - Teacher
Hi, I'm Philip. I've been teaching at British Study Centres in London since it opened in 2004. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in business, but I decided to change career as I studied English at university and I've always been interested in language I'm studying Korean at the moment. One reason I really enjoy teaching is that every day is different!
Nicola - Teacher
I'm Nicky and I'm from Wales. I love living in London and hope you will too.
When I'm not teaching you'll find me cooking (attempting to), running, reading or socializing with my students.
I'm sure you'll get the most out of your studies and perhaps I'll see you in my classroom.
Donna & Dan - Teachers
Hi, I'm Donna. I've been teaching since 1999 and have enjoyed every minute of it! I particularly enjoy teaching writing and exam classes. My hobbies include wine tasting, walking, jogging and juggling.
Hi, my name's Dan. I'm an experienced English teacher, having taught business English for seven years in both Germany and the UK. I also teach general English, English for special purposes and various exam courses. In my free time I love skiing, hill walking and beer!
Nick - Teacher
Hi! I'm Nick. I've been teaching for three and a half years, two of which were in Italy. I originally come from Oxford and some people say I have a posh accent you will have to decide when you meet me! I studied Art History at university and I am interested in economics, art, literature and making people laugh! You'll recognise me cycling to work in my bright red jacket.
Peter - Teacher
I'm Peter. I've been teaching English for eight years in Turkey, Eastern Europe, Spain and now in London. I enjoy listening to live music and going cycling at the weekend. I look forward to meeting you!
Marketing & Management Team
Andrew - Managing Director
Hi, I'm Andrew and I'm based here at our London school. I have been working in English language teaching for 16 years now and I am passionate about languages. I enjoy learning languages myself (I speak passable French, German and Spanish) and I enjoy working for a school providing English courses to students who come to the UK.
My main role at British Study Centres is to oversee the sales and marketing for our three schools. I work closely with the marketing team to promote our courses world-wide. I also work closely with the directors of our three schools, to ensure that we provide you with the very best courses, services and facilities. We aim to make your stay in the UK as enjoyable and memorable as possible.
In my spare time I enjoy cycling, gardening and the great English sport of cricket.
I hope to meet you soon!
June - Marketing Manager (Latin America and Southern European)
Hi, I'm June and I work in Sales and Marketing department in our London school.
I'm responsible for promoting our courses in Latin America, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
I live in London but was born and raised in Bonnie (beautiful) Scotland and still retain my broad accent which my colleagues tease me about (but in a nice way).
Travelling and conversing in different languages are what I love doing. I speak Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese. Another of my passions is eating good food and wine and I don't mind having a dabble in the kitchen too.
Robert - Marketing Manager (Far East, Middle East and Eastern Europe)
Wei, Moshi-Moshi, Yoboseyo!
I am responsible for our marketing activities in Far East, Middle East and Eastern Europe. I love travelling and learning new languages, especially Zhongwen, Nihongo and Hangul!
I enjoy watching films, reading books and eating kimchi, sushi and xiaolongbo.
Santi - Marketing Communications Executive
Hi, my name is Santi and I work in the Marketing Department at our London school. My story with British Study Centres started back in 2004 when I decided to take an English course in London.
I am originally from Girona, a beautiful city close to Barcelona, and as much as I love my hometown I consider London to be an exciting and vibrant place to live.
I work with Anton, our Webmaster, developing the school's website. I am responsible for all printing and promotional materials as well as providing marketing support to my colleagues in Oxford and Brighton.
I look forward to meeting you!
Anton - Webmaster
Hi! My name's Anton. I've been with British Study Centres since March 2004, first as a student and now as Webmaster. I've enjoyed every bit of it as the company is a truly excellent place to work! My responsibility is to develop and maintain the website as well as provide IT-related help to our students.
I've finished my degree in Computing recently and now have much more spare time to do things I enjoy most: playing table tennis, reading, extending my programming skills and soul-searching.
