We also offer a wide range of Examination courses. We have the world-famous University of Cambridge Exams, at both First Certificate and Advanced level. Courses start three times per year, in January, March and September. We also have preparation courses with weekly start dates for IELTS and TOEIC/TOEFL.
Classes are small (with an average of under 10 students) which enables our teachers to focus on your individual aims and interests. Classes are also multinational so that you have the opportunity to meet and to interact with students from all over the world. On average our schools have students from over 20 different countries at any one time.
All of our teachers have a qualification to teach English as a foreign language and most have a university degree. Typically a teacher at British Study Centres has at least 2 years experience and some have many, many more. The vast majority of our teachers also speak languages apart from English, and although they will not use these languages in the class, in some situations it is comforting for a student to know that he or she can speak to someone in their own language.

We keep our teaching team up to date with the latest ideas in EFL teaching in a number of ways. We have staff meetings every week, and training sessions (every other Friday afternoon) when we introduce new ideas and techniques as well as discuss the particular needs of students who might be having problems, and plan for the future. To have regular meetings like this is unusual in a language school, but we believe it is the only way we can maintain the proper level of professionalism and care. We have a full-time Director of Studies and Assistant Director of Studies in each school and you will meet them in your first day interview when we check your level before putting you into class.
All General English courses include:
- First-day placement test
- Study folder
- Use of study centre
- Free internet and e-mail
- Progress report (for students studying 8 weeks or more)
- Help and advice with further study
- Daily homework tasks corrected by your teacher
- End of course report
- British Study Centres Leaving Certificate showing your final level and attendance record
