London is a fascinating city, not just because of its history or the sightseeing, but especially because of its cultural attractions.
In the West End you can find great restaurants, clubs, cinemas and theatres. Internationally renowned plays and musicals are presented throughout the year in more than 40 theatres of this famous region in the centre of London.
An excellent option is the musical Chicago. It’s amazing not only for its story, it also impresses for the dance and music, especially the excellent performance of the actors, who keeps the audience engaged throughout the performance.
Dancing, singing, sensuality, comedy, murder, drama, greed and lie are on stage in this history that explores the instant celebrity status in the Chicago of the 20’s. Launched in November 1996, Chicago has become the most widely performed American musical in London and it is still considered the sexiest play in town.
Velma Kelly, a famous dancer in the prime of her career, after killing her husband, enters the select list of Chicago’s killers, which is controlled by Billy Flynn, an ambitious lawyer. The murder makes Velma a real showbiz celebrity. Meanwhile the aspiring singer Roxie Hart, dreams with glamour and fame. When her lover decides to leave her, she kills him in the middle of a fight. Billy takes both cases and explores them to the maximum in the newspaper. Roxie becomes even more famous than Velma, and the two begin a battle to become the biggest celebrity in the city.
The story is also available on film, originally released by Miramax Films in December 2002, it had a 40 million dollars budget. Won 6 Oscars in 2003, including Best Picture.
