Diary Of A Brasilian Girl Living In London: Part 1
The decision to leave home and move to another country can be very hard. You’ve got to make a really good research to make sure that everything is going to work out on your trip. And the most important thing to know is: when is the right time to do it?
I’m a Brazilian girl who decided to study in the UK. And in the next texts you may follow all the steps that brought me to London and to British Study Centres.
THE DECISION
In Brazil, there isn´t this exact moment to leave your parent´s house, as in the United States for example, where young people leave home and move to other cities or states to live alone and go to university.
After graduating from college I got my second degree In Business Marketing and worked in the area in my hometown. After a while, I thought it was the perfect time to do this experience and go abroad. At the age of 24 I had not left my parent´s house yet and lived by my on. So it was an even bigger challenge for me.
That was the time I began my research and started to think about some decisions I would have to make such us: where should I go, when is the perfect time of the year, witch is the best course, what kind of accommodation should I choose.
THE CHOICE OF LONDON
The first thing I did (and I think it’s a very important step in this process) was to talk to all of my friends, that already have been in an exchange experience. Some went to the United States, others to Australia, but the experiences that attracted me the most came from the friends that have been in London.
The way they talked about the city, the culture, the architecture, the sightseeing, the receptiveness of the residents, about all the things they had done, and especially the trips (because it’s easy and near to travel to other European countries), all of these things, just made me also love the city and go for it.
Besides, I made a very thorough research in the internet (that is another important thing to do and it will help you taking the decision). I read all about the city – the best place to live, the way the public transport works, the weather, schools, places to eat and get out.
London is the 2nd most visited city in the world and the biggest business centre in Europe. Here you can find people from all around the world and because of that, you can also find different kinds of restaurants, people of many different ethnic groups and all kinds of styles.
London is famous for its unique places such as the London Eye or London Bridge; for its number of parks; for its museums like Natural History Museum or Madame Tussauds and the many attractions you can go to, like musicals, pubs, clubs, bars or restaurants.
