Oxford Trip
Oxford, The City of Dreaming Spires, is famous the world over for its University and place in history. For over 800 years, it has been a home to royalty and scholars, and since the 9th century an established town, although people are known to have lived in the area for thousands of years.
The school organized a special trip to Oxford to show Bsc London students the most well known University City. We did the most popular way to see Oxford through a walking tour. Everything worth seeing in Oxford is within a very compact area so you can easily walk around it and take in the sights.
When we arrived in Oxford we started by visiting Carfax tower and climbed 99 steps to the top of the tower for to get a bird’s eye view of Oxford. After that we visited Christ Church which is one of the largest colleges in the University of Oxford and where Harry Potter filmed! Following all this we visited the biggest indoor market in Oxford called the Covered Garden and then Radcliff Square where you can find the Oxford library which is part of the Bodleian Library, the main building. The two are connected by an underground tunnel and there are many books stored under the square (with space for around 600,000 volumes). And finally we ended the walking tour in the Bridge of Sighs which is close to famous hidden away pub called Turf Tavern for to have a couple of drinks and a cosy traditional English pub lunch.
I would like to thanks to students who are joining our trip to Oxford! There’s more school trips planned soon for Brighton, Cambridge and more!
