‘Wear It Pink’ 2009
‘Wear it Pink’ is a fun and simple way to raise funds for research into breast cancer. This has been an annual event at our school for the past four years and this year was no exception.
On Friday 31st October 2009, students and staff at British Study Centres London all arrived at school wearing an item of clothing in the colour pink in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign, the only charity that specialises in funding independent breast cancer research throughout the UK. They currently support 71 research projects, worth over £9.2 million in 47 locations across the country. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer with one woman in nine being affected by it during her lifetime in the United Kingdom alone. All the money raised by ‘wear it pink’ helps in researching for a cure.
On the day staff members in student services brought along home baked pink cupcakes which were given to anyone who made an additional donation of 50p or more while students in each class kindly donated £2 and took the time to either buy or borrow an item of pink clothing in order to show their support. We are proud to say that West London College, our sister school, joined the cause this year and helped us raise £557.87 in total.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all their efforts and donations and we look forward to another bright ‘wear it pink’.
