Oxford Street Christmas Lights!
The Oxford Street Christmas lights are among the most famous in the world, each year attracting thousands to the West End over the Christmas and New Year period. Oxford Street was overflowing with the people, everybody was waiting for the time when the lights will be switched on. Twenty students from British Study centres came and were counting down to the big moment. While we were waiting a couple of performers from Sister Act and singers like Peter André, Taio Cruz and the girl group The Saturdays performed. It was quite fun. Everybody was singing and dancing!
When the time came the lights were switched on by actor Jim Carrey, who stars in Scrooge in the film ‘A Christmas Carol’. It was amazing the whole street was lit up and when the lights came on it was like a flash of lightning. Everyone was saying that it is like nothing they have ever seen before! It’s really magical, especially Regent Street. The lights cover the whole street like a blanket.
The Christmas lights are very important to shops and businesses as it is the start of the Christmas shopping period. It was worth to see it! Don’t worry if you missed it, check out the photos.
