Guy Fawkes Night!

Bookmark and Share

Guy Fawkes Night is an annual celebration on the evening of 5 November. Guy Fawkes Night marks the downfall of the gun powder plot of 5 November 1605, in which a number of Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, attempted to destroy the Houses of parliament.

To celebrate, British Study Centres students went to a park to see the fireworks and the bonfire, which is the traditional way of spending Guy Fawkes night. Before going we went to a pub near by.

There were so many people at the park! While waiting we were dancing to the music – there was a DJ at the top of the hill. Everybody who wanted to see the fireworks were spending their times having fun. Actually I didn’t imagine it would be that big an organization. Finally it was 8 o ‘clock and fireworks started to launch. They lasted over 25 minutes! Everyone was going ‘wow’!

I don’t agree with what Guy Fawkes did but I would like to say thank you to him for to let us see the fireworks anyway!
