What A Fantastic Night And What A Fantastic Experience!

As a surprise gift to all all BSC staff members, we were all excited to be invited to see U2 in concert on Saturday 16th August at Wembley Stadium! When I heard about the news I was thrilled as it was my first U2 concert. It was such a nice surprise and I could not wait for the Saturday to arrive.

50 of us made our way to Wembley Stadium on the day, and it was particularly nice to see everyone from all the BSC schools in one place at the same time, which was great! Almost as impressive as U2 was Wembley stadium as a venue itself; it’s pretty spectacular with 90,000 seats and many more thousands standing. It was estimated that 170,000 U2 fans attended the concert, apparently the largest crowd ever to gather for a concert at the new Wembley. I think all 170,000 participated in a huge Mexican wave which went round and around until the band kicked off the music! The stage was quite amazing- like a huge coffee table above the middle of the pitch enabling the band to perform in the middle surrounded by the crowd on all sides. It gave ample opportunity for Bono, Edge and co. to strut their stuff round the huge walkways around the stage, getting near to many screaming fans, while Larry Mullen Jnr coolly tapped out the drums from the centre stage. The sound, the lights, the revolving 360 tube, and most importantly the music, was simply brilliant!

I loved all the songs, although some of the tracks from the new album were new to me. I was really waiting for all the old classics, and they didn’t disappoint with most of the Joshua Tree classic. My favourite moment was when we stood up and sang… “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” and the band stopped and listened!! It was just unforgettable…

Thanks to the BSC Management for giving us a great day!!!
