Meet The staff – Charles
Charles Pizzey works at the English language school in Oxford. He also works at West London College, which teaches courses in business, computing, fashion, and tourism. With all this ‘on his plate’ Charles surely can’t have any time for travelling, but surprisingly he travels widely. He has been as far away as Kazakstan, Russia and Ukraine….
1) I heard you are based in Oxford – what do you think are the differences between the three English language schools in London, Oxford and Brighton?
Brighton is great in the summer due to the nearby beaches, it’s also a trendy place for young students. Oxford is ideal for younger students and more mature or academicly minded people. And London, well it means so many positive things to so many people.
2) Do you think there’s an advantage to studying English in Oxford?
Oxford is a great place to study and is loaded with culture -- a great choice for those with a more academic interest.
3) Of course the famous University of Oxford is close to the school. Do the students learn more quickly in the Oxford school… Is it something in the air?
I’d rather not answer that as my colleagues in London and Brighton might bash me but I can assure you that the teaching quality in Oxford is very high. We have a really strong team which is kept on it toes are we also run a teacher training department for the most advanced levels.
4) What is West London college, and what do they do?
West London College (WLC) is a private college offering diploma and degree programmes from high quality university partners. It’s a great choice for those wanting to get a quality bachelor’s degree or master’s but who do not want to go to a massive university out in the sticks. WLC has an excellent central London location and offers excellent value for money and flexible entry criteria. WLC teaches Fashion, Business, Marketing, Tourism and Computing.
5) How can you have time for travelling around Europe, let alone to far away places such as Russia and Kazakhstan?
Sometimes you just have to make time but that’s not always possible and what’s great about my job is that it’s possible to build good relations over the phone and via email, wherever the client is. Getting to see them in person is a real bonus though.
