London English School Activities – Greenwich

Bookmark and Share

London has been having extraordinarily good weather in the last couple of weeks – sun, blue skies, warm, a nice breeze.. Don’t believe the pictures of the London school’s trip to Greenwich last Friday! It seems like the infamous British weather has chosen the ‘best’ day to suddenly change to grey, cloudy skies.

The day started by boarding the boat at Westminster Pier, right next to the Houses of Parliament and below Big Ben…

A tour guide described all the important buildings along the river Thames throughout the journey, making it a very pleasant way to get to know London. Something hilarious always happens on the social programme -- this time, when the boat made one of its stops and the guide announced that everyone can get off, a couple of students decided to do so, leaving the rest of the school behind.. Claudia had to go after them. Luckily she managed to catch them in time before the boat left again!

…They rode up the river, past the London eye, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. The boat stopped at Tower Bridge for a photo opportunity.

By this time some of the smokers in the group were getting desperate! It was still a while till dry land…

Finally the boat arrived at Greenwich Market, where everyone bought lunch and had a picnic.

…After getting refreshed the students went onto the Royal Maritime Museum and St Alfege’s Church. The final stop was the Greenwich Observatory, which is famous for being the place where time begins!

Claudia reports that a great time was had. There will be three boat trips along the Thames in July, and I would recommend it as one of the best ways of seeing and getting to know London.
