Social Activities in Oxford

Our extensive social programme is designed to let students get the most out of their stay in Oxford!

Punting

Boating is very popular in Oxford and it's an excellent way to see the town, including the famous University and its various colleges. The boat, called a 'punt' is almost unique to Oxford and moves by pushing along the river bed with a pole - it's great fun! Don't miss our regular punting days in Oxford this summer!

Silverstone Racing Track

Silverstone is Britain's most famous racetrack, hosting Formula One Grand Prix. A real race instructor delivers the tour which includes the workshop, the race control centre, the pits and medical facilities. There was an unforgettable photo opportunity on the winners' podium which was followed by a focus on management, marketing and financial issues for summer Business Certificate students. No trip to Silverstone would be complete without photos and posing in sports cars, as you can see from the pictures above! More trips to Silverstone are planned in future!

Wychwood Brewery

As part of the summer Business Certificate students made a business trip to the Wychwood Brewery, in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside. Students were treated to a tour of the beer making process, a lecture on the history, and most importantly got to try the finished product. The trip gave an opportunity to learn about the business of the UK's biggest organic ale producer, practice business English and enjoy a fascinating day out. Take a look at the social programme for similar trips planned this month!

Red Nose Day

BSC Oxford dedicated a week to raising money for the charity, Comic Relief, with the theme of 'do something funny for money'. Activities were run each day including a comedy movie night, stand-up comedy, a singer-o-gram, a dance competition and much more besides. The final day of the week culminated in a rapid fire series of events including guys having their legs waxed, cream pies being thrown at peoples faces, a sampling of some weird British treats, and the grand finale, a rendition of the famous Harlem Shake. Well done to all the staff and students who took part and made such a great effort for Red Nose Day, Comic Relief.

BSC Oxford Social Programme - May 2013

Living in England gives students the perfect chance to experience British culture and practice their English. We have an extensive social programme that is designed to let students get the most out of their stay here.

We provide our students with a monthly social programme at the beginning of each month. Our weekly social programme is packed with cultural, sporting and leisure activities, including visits to a University college, film club, conversation club, theatre trip, greyhound racing, football, 'punting', museum visits and many, many more. A small charge (£3 to £10) is made for some activities, while others are free of charge. Trips are reserved through our partner tour provider Oxford Study Tours and cost £25 to £45 for one day trips and £125 to £200 for one, two or three night stays. Please go to the school information point if you would like further details or wish to book a trip.
