Student Testimonials

We believe the best reflection of our school is how our students feel. We are happy and successful only when they are happy and successful. Here you'll find some of our past students' testimonials.

Some of our students like Brighton so much that they never leave! We look forward to seeing you here!..

I must confess that I chose Brighton and this course a little bit randomly. I thought that studying English abroad would be the same thing doesn't matter where. Well, I couldn't be more wrong.

The whole experience of being in Brighton was beyond the study of a foreign language and much of this has everything to do with BSC. It's more than the fact that I meet extraordinary people there, is the whole environment that the school provides that allowed me to enjoy my time in Brighton with this secure feeling of having someone, or in this case a whole institution, supporting me. So, thank you, it was, for sure, a life changing experience!

First of all, I think I am in the right country, because some accents can be difficult to understand for example like one in American.

Brighton is a beautiful city, next to the sea and the students are often happy to go out in the nightclubs, cinema, pubs, restaurants or fast food. One of the first things you should try is swimming in the sea!

The school is good because there are different types of accommodation if you are not sure you can contact ESL and choose between a student house and a host family. It depends of you, if you are really independent and like living with a lot of people of different nationalities. There are a lot of different nationalities in the school and you can speak with them only in English.

Teachers are always there to help you. If you have a question, they will answer you before they continue with the lesson. During the classes we speak a lot and they can correct your pronunciation. Teachers use different methods and so, lessons are never boring.

Finally, school can organise student activities and help you if you need a job. I have certainly forgotten a lot of points but, it is better if you come here to see all of them for yourself.

I've been in Brighton for five weeks now and I've enjoyed every single day of my stay. My intention was to improve my English skills but it turned out to be more than that.

Living in this cosmopolitan city which offers you great opportunities for your spare time: going to the theatre, enjoying the sunny weather on the beach, visiting museums or listening to the numerous street musicians, just to mention a few, is a great experience.

The lifestyle of the city and its people combined with the friendly atmosphere at the school, welcoming everyone no matter where he or she comes from makes my stay perfect. I can recommend spending some time abroad to everyone, expressions and experiences will enrich your life.

It's worth it!

Actually, I appreciate teachers' methods of instruction. They give us a lot of advices in order to find and fill our weakness. So, British Study Centres provides a good foundation and helps each student to develop their English knowledge.

Moreover, there are several little groups to learn in good condition where the level of the students determined the speed of the lesson. The location of the school is ideal because it is near the shops, pubs and it is easy to meet new people to improve your English.

There are different resources like library and classrooms with computers to study English and to have an internet conversation including MSN, Skype etc. That is also useful to prepare an exam for example TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS.

To Summarise, British Study Centres allows the students to improve their English level very quickly in a nice atmosphere with friendly teachers.

I have studied at British Study Centres for 10 weeks and it has been a great experience. All the teachers and school staff are extremely friendly to students, and they also always willing to help you whenever you need it even if you are not in the class. I have improved my English skills more than I ever thought I would. The school is so experienced classifying the students according to their right English level.

I was so happy to study in BSC then I decided to continue my studies in Hove College which is the sister school of BSC. Now, I am studying at Hove College the course of Creative Communications. If you are interested in getting skills in different areas such as Creative Communications, Internet Marketing or Digital Design, Hove College is the right choice. The teachers are always encouraging you to do your best and improve your skills.

I have been living in the student accommodation house, it has been also a good way to meet new people from different nationalities and practice my English. My friends who are living with host families are also happy with their accommodation.

I can easily recommend both if you are planning to come to Brighton for this wonderful school.

Young, cosmopolitan and less than 1 hour from London, Brighton is an ideal town for international students eager to learn English. Located on the seaside, the atmosphere is pretty laid back and people are kind and friendly. What’s more, Brighton has a very exciting nightlife.

British Study Centres is a very professional School. All the staff are very kind and friendly and the teachers are well prepared and competent. The schools facilities are excellent and the situation is perfect for students wanting to pass the internationally recognised certificates like the Cambridge or IELTS exams.

Moreover, I had a great time with my host family, which has been really nice and attentive and welcoming. They’ve made me feel comfortable and put me at ease since the first day.

Finally, in addition to the great social programme provided, I particularly appreciated the fact that the school helps students who are looking for job opportunities. Thanks to British Study Centres, I found a work experience placement in the British company, which will give me the chance to apply my English skills in a professional context.

To sum up, Brighton is doubtlessly a town that I would recommend to people willing to learn English in the UK.

Fran, Spain

Hi, my name is Fran and I am from Barcelona, Spain. This is my second year that I'm coming to study in British Study Centres.

Why I'm coming here and not in another centre?

Firstly, I love Brighton. The Catalonian people love the coast; we need to see the sea every day and I wanted to come to a cosmopolitan city, like Barcelona! Well, Brighton is smaller than Barcelona but it is a very cosmopolitan city, and if you wish you can go to London. It's only 1 hour from Brighton and it's not expensive. Brighton beachfront offers a fun playground such as swimming, basketball, volleyball and footvolley. There are many websites that you can find out about the events and activities that you can do during the summer. If you live in the centre of Brighton you can walk to the beach and to the shops, you can walk everywhere you want. And if you don't in the centre of Brighton, don't worry because the transport in Brighton is wonderful, very punctual, there are always connections until late hours.

Secondly, I can get a very important and efficient infrastructure that I need by learn English, by improving my level. There is Wi-Fi in the school, computers rooms, study rooms. The building is new and it has got a big garden and café where you can meet people. It's beautiful and very comfortable. The teachers usually do very amusing classes and something very important, they're friendly, they are happy to help you.

Thirdly, my host family, Ayfer and Steve. From the first moment that I arrived here they’ve been very friendly and sympathetic with me. Yes, sympathetic because if you are coming from different culture and different life style, you would need a little sympathy. I’ve feel very happy with them. The most important is that they always spoke English with me. I went out with them to meet their friends, enjoyed barbecue and played tennis with them and it is very important that they made me feel part of the family. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner together, because is the best way like that you can improve your level. This is the best way because you can improve your English by studying at the school and speaking and socialising with your host family and friends.

To sum up, if I had to choose another time one city to study English and a school to learn English, obviously I'd choose Brighton and British Study Centres again. Good luck with your studies!

Junko, Japan

I've been in Brighton for 12 weeks. At first I couldn't speak English at all and I was afraid of talking to someone in English. But people in Brighton are very kind so now I have many friends here and enjoy Brighton life. I stay in a student house with other students of different nationalities. I enjoy chatting with them about something every morning and night, sharing the kitchen and bathroom and helping each other. They are like my family in Brighton. Our student house is near the sea! Sometimes we have a BBQ on the beach. I like our student house very much!

The teachers are also good. They give us homework every day. Sometimes it's so difficult, but I think if we continue to do it, our English skills will improve. Also they make it fun during the lessons and the atmosphere is good. We enjoy studying English. I recommend Brighton and British Study Centres to you.

Alessandra, Brazil

Working as a chef in Brazil I was keen to try the cooking classes with my English course at British Study Centres Brighton. I wanted to learn new recipes and cooking skills that I could use in my job at home.

I really enjoyed the classes and made delicious dishes that I had not made before including: The Perfect Steak, Thai Green Curry, Filled Pasta, Pasta Master Class and South Indian Curry.
