Social Activities in Bournemouth

Our extensive social programme is designed to let students get the most out of their stay in Bournemouth!

Adem, Turkey

Bournemouth is a beautiful city next to the sea, and the students enjoy going out to the nightclubs, cinema, pubs, and restaurants.

Jurassic Coast Tour

While the removal men were setting up the new Bournemouth school Building, Bristol and West House, the students went on a free excursion to the Jurassic Coast. This area achieved World Heritage Site status because of its importance to Earth Sciences. The coastline gives a huge insight into the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods in time.

While there, students were able to soak up the natural beauty of the area and understand why so many Britons fall in love with this beautiful area. Highlights of the tour included Durdle Door and the stunning shell-shaped Lulworth cove.

Casino Night

Bournemouth is a beach resort town and as well as the beach it's famous for its nightlife – discotheques, bars and restaurants. British Study Centres gives the option to its students to attend the VIP casino night, while being looked after by British Study Centres staff. You can learn how to play popular games such as blackjack and roulette with free chips, so you don't have to worry about any money being lost! Free food and drink is available as well. Look out for our casino nights in future!

British Food Party

Have you ever wanted a cream tea? Wondered what a crumpet or a Cornish Pasty was? Have you tried Dandelion and Burdock? No? Then come to the British Food party.

Students gather in the school on a Friday evening to sample all things great about British food. All those foods students have heard of, but haven’t known where or how to find them will be laid on by the staff.

This is a fantastic evening to gain more understanding about the British food culture and to enjoy the company of teachers, staff and other students.

Trip on the Bournemouth Eye

When you come to Bournemouth it is impossible not to see the huge balloon floating in the sky. This is the Bournemouth Eye, the town's answer to the London Eye! The balloon will gently transport you up into the sky where you can see all the surrounding areas from The Isle of Wight to the New Forest. This is the perfect activity for taking photographs and an excellent way for you to get to know this stunning area and appreciate one of the UK's most beautiful landscapes.

Afternoon Bike Ride

Bournemouth is famed for its 11km of beautiful sandy beaches and with its unbroken promenade, what better way to spend an afternoon than to ride like the locals along the front?

Our social organiser will take students out for a fun filled ride on 'beach cruiser' bikes taking in all the sights of the beach from Bournemouth Pier to the artificial Surf Reef. This is an usual way to see and enjoy the vast beach front which makes Bournemouth such a fantastic destination.

BSC Bournemouth Social Programme - May 2013

Living in England gives students the perfect chance to experience British culture and practise their English. We have an extensive social programme that is designed to let students get the most out of their stay here.

We provide our students with a social programme at the beginning of each month. It's designed to make sure you get a great mix of social, leisure, cultural and sporting activities which will allow you to practice your English and have fun after class. With Bournemouth being a university town which is packed with students, there's so much to do! Our programme is packed with activities such as beach sports, salsa dancing, trips to famous sights, walks and bike rides, a club for finding a job, regular pub nights, and much, much more besides. A small charge (£3 to £10) is made for some activities, but others are free of charge. Very economical weekend trips are also available to famous towns and cities, such as Bath, London and Oxford, and even to Scotland and Europe. Trips are reserved through tour providers Discover Dorset, UK Study Tours and Indigo Travel and cost £30 to £35 for one day trips and £150 to £200 for one, two or three night stays. Please go to the school reception if you would like further details or wish to book a trip.
